The coolest guys in college always had cars. Okay fine, I lied, the coolest guys in college were the fellows with the bikes. But face it, every girl, more often than not, fancied the dude with a car a tad more, especially in summer and during the monsoons. The idea of the perfect car has changed since I answered the roll call, but if I were in college now, I’d certainly have the Nissan Micra on my list. Not just any Micra, but the Micra DCI diesel. Here’s why.

It’s got its curves in the right places, which makes it appeal to women without coming out looking like a girly car. Although covered with continents of plastic, the interiors look young and energetic. The cabin has enough space for four teenagers and there’s plenty of space for two hormonal teens to canoodle.

On the diesel, the upper of the twin opening gloveboxes is sealed, a feature also seen on other Micras that come with a single airbag. Other features like the keyless entry/start and electrically folding mirrors remain, reminding you why the Micra presents good value.

i own one and i can say it is the best in the segment. be it comfort, performance, handling, service & spares. It has a far silent than the whole lot others. Plus at 6+lac price which other car is giving the offers which micra has. with 22.7kmpl polos, figos n swifts of the world have lot to catch up.

Guys the top end variant has Climate Control. This review says that it does not. Also the Nissan MIcra is definitely priced reasonably given the fact that it has so many features. Look at the Swift Diesel. It has no airbags, ABS versions have another 2 months of waiting time, no electrically adjustable ORVMs, (The Micra has retractable mirrors and EA-ORVMs) No auto switch off of electricals if locked with the lights on, the list is virtually endless!

oh boy ...the comments are really awesome..albiet rude but true, the car is undoubtedly overpriced especially at a time when nissan seriously needs some business..take a look at the figo or vista for instance, they shout value..and moreover nissan isnt quite a brand to justify the premium

They have skipped the 2 base variants of Micra in the diesel version. The petrol starts at 3.9 lacs, whereas disel at 5.8. In the price conscious segment, micra with its tiny looks somehow looks overpriced. One can go for I20, which has better road presence and service assurance. Nissan would be a bit embarrsed after seeing Etio's price tag.

@Kyle: "You may get only a single airbag and no alloy wheels and no automatic climate control, which is a bit of a downer, but the rest of the package is just fine"....HAHAHA.. You people at BSM have really been sold out..Have you ever said such encouraging words about the Indica Vista which is a better roomy car and also offers better price options? Have you ever wrote "You may get the dashboard plastic of not so good feel, which is a bit of a downer, but the rest of the package is just fine"...? Have you said this any time, BSM? You always write as if you expect strictly the quality of a BMW in a TATA car for its price, but why so lenient with a JAP car?

The comments posted on the review are in fact more interesting than the review itself!

well.. buying a micra @ around 6lacs is not sensible deal.. wen u have likes of polo, punto HP90, Swift, i20 on the list n Etios diesel is on the way. Itz definitely over priced, i dont think it will find many buyers.

Is that supposed to be a road test? Next time please cut out the attempted humour and mention something about handling, steering and body control
