Force Motors has announced big plans for the Indian market today. In a press conference held only a hour ago, Force Motors announced their new arm called the Force Motors Personal Vehicles Division, which will focus on passenger vehicles.
They will launch their first product – a SUV called the Force One – next month followed by a MPV by the end of 2012 and a successor to the current SUV by the year 2013.
The Force One will have a 2.2 litre CRDi engine built under a Daimler license. Interestingly, the chassis was developed in-house but was fine-tuned by Lotus Engineering, folks famous for producing some of the finest handling cars in the world. The chassis is said to handle up to 32.7 kgm of torque from the engine. Electronics have been validated by Mercedes-Benz.
Force One will be the first Indian OEM to offer projector headlamps and they claim to have best-in-class legroom across three forward facing rows. The engine specs are as follows –
140 bhp @ 3800 RPM.
32.1 kgm torque @ 1700-2400 RPM
